Snow has been the hot topic in Cornwall that we have all been talking about for the last week. For our children it provided a joyful, fun-filled few days break from school. The countryside all around us here near Botallack all looked so extra bright and beautiful. When the snow fell on Wednesday our campers were subsequently snowed in for the coming few days. Much frivolity ensued with adults making snow angels by day and snuggling in to the pub to share stories over a few pints by the fire during the evenings. One of our accommodation guests who left for home late that morning was back with us again after lunch, having abandoned his car not far away, stuck on the slippery road. Luckily he was able to work over the internet from the comfort of our cosy cottage until the siege by snow had passed and he was able to return home to Oxford. Our children slid about in the snow on their body boards and our little white dog needed a fluorescent flash jacket on so that we didn’t lose sight of him in the drifts! Most of the white stuff has gone now and life has returned to normality. The kids are back in school and the dog has muddy paws again. Next stop Easter – Our bar will be open, serving Skinner’s real ale and cider. Our full menu will be on the go for evening meals and the bacon butties will be at ready in the shop for breakfast.
